CVT for the electric vehicles launched by Bosch: CVT4EVV

Bosch is developing a Bosch push belt, Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) specifically developed for electric cars: the CVT4EV. The CVT4EV is a lightweight variable-ratio transmitter that supports a larger audience with electric vehicles’ output specifications. The device increases the electric powertrain’s economy as well as output while preserving the electric motor’s smooth as well as comfortable character.

The CVT4EV’s variable gear ratio provides an ideal trade-off between performance as well as power. The mechanism controls the electric motor’s torque and speed and at the same time increases the performance of the engine. This results in quicker acceleration for the towing and off-road performance, higher top speeds and much more torque on the wheels.

The CVT4EV also allows for lower energy consumption by using the electric motor at its most powerful working stage. Through adjusting the transmission ratio of CVT, the system finds the maximum operating point of an electric powertrain with the total performance of the electric motor, inverter and CVT. The CVT4EV enables a more lightweight electric motor practical due to the decreased and torque, speed specifications of the electric motor. Alternatively, it is possible to choose a bigger driving range with a similar engine. Bosch believes that because of its simplicity, the CVT4EV offers an extra cost-benefit for car manufactures. The CVT4EV produces a small drivetrain ideal for a wide range of applications, including mid-size automobiles, sports cars even small commercial vehicles.

This system comprises of one CVT4EV module platform, an electric motor, an inverter and a ratio-adapted final drive for the engine. This provides a considerable price advantage for automobile makers, with much less cost as well as sophistication in their applications and cars’ production, manufacturing and aftermarket.

This variability often creates an enhanced user interface through the versatility of multiple driving modes (e.g., highway, uphill or individual mode). Therefore, the variation of the CVT4EV provides a means for carmakers to distinguish themselves from their cars by providing normal driving behavior across all segments related to their model. The CVT4EV imposes fewer constraints on torque as well as revs, unlike the alternative multi-stage methods for electric cars. Moreover, without moving shocks, it provides smooth changing.
